Madness and Belgian-Style Beer

Madness and Belgian-Style Beer
A couple of quick mentions of some fun beer events this weekend.
The High Dive Bar & Grill and 91X wants you to participate in the third round of the MARCH MADNESS OF BEER tournament from 7:00 to 9:00PM this Friday, today! The East Bracket will include our friends from Mission Brewery, Ale Smith, Stone and of course Alpine. The High Dive Bar & Grill will be serving Alpine Beer Co.’s NELSON- A Golden Rye IPA with New Zealand, “Nelson Sauvin” hops. 7%ABV. This is a popular vote bracket elimination and there are some pretty special beers in this round. Check out http://www.highdiveinc.com for all the details.

Another big event this weekend is the Belgian Beer Party at Pizza Port Carlsbad on Saturday, March 27th. The festival is split into two sessions – 10 am to 4 pm and 5 pm to 11 pm. Each session will have the same great line up of beers. There will be more than 100 beers available and after seeing the list of beers, I can tell you that there are some truly amazing beers that will be served. Our Flanders Red “Ned” will make its debut there. Tickets are $40 each and can be purchased through the Pizza Port website at http://www.pizzaport.com or at http://www.ticketderby.com. Tickets should be available at the door for both sessions, but ticket sales are limited, so if you plan on going, buying in advance is your best bet (it will also save you a few dollars). There will be rare beers from Cantillon, six of the seven Trappist breweries, Russian River, Oud Beersel, Drie Fonteinen, Jolly Pumpkin, De Ranke, Allagash, Avery, De Dolle, Boon and many more! Don’t miss one of the best collection of Belgian ales in the country.
We may be losing our recent addition to our brewing crew. A North County brewpub has head-hunted our other brewer and he has accepted the position. If I haven’t changed his mind we may be looking to hire another brewery worker. I hope to know more later today and will keep those interested in working here informed, one way or the other.
We’re assembling our pub crew and have a verbal agreement from a former Chef from Central Barbeque in Memphis, Tennessee to work here. We hope we can open soon as I head off to finalize plans through the Health Department…
Stay safe; wear those life-saving seat belts. Peace from the Alpine Brew Crew!
